Smiley kids! We've been getting lots more smiles from Benjamin lately. Generally we can get him to smile whenever he's not hungry if we try hard enough. He even started smiling for the clerks in stores while we were out shopping yesterday. He's still having gas issues that the doctor thinks may be related to a milk and/or soy intolerance. Whenever we try to supplement his feedings with milk based formula, he'll yell and scream the entire next day. We are going to try supplementing with a super-hypo-allergenic formula to see if that helps. In the meantime, Sarah is on a soy and dairy free diet. Two things are surprising about it: the first is that it's very difficult to find soy free pre-packaged foods, and the second is that it's possible to make some very good food without dairy or soy, as long as you make it from scratch... So we've been making much more food from scratch, and outside of the time to prepare it, we've been enjoying eating at home. Anyways, Ben is much better these days as long as he doesn't get milk, and Emily is still talking a lot, is starting to be able to count objects (she's been able to count to ten for a long time now, but now she seems to understand what the numbers mean), and has been really into puzzles for several weeks now.

Ben is almost able to fully support his big old noggin now, and he's growing like a weed. He had a Dr. appointment on Thursday, and while I don't have the actual numbers, he's 25%ile in weight, 50%ile in height and of course 65%ile in head circumference. Those are all unadjusted numbers, so don't account for the fact that he was 7 weeks early. He's taller and bigger headed than most full term kids! That seems about right to us...
